About Us

The Short Statured People of Australia is a non-profit organisation founded in 1968 to support short statured people (people shorter than 150 cm/4’11″ at adulthood) in Australia.

The SSPA aims to advance equal opportunities in education, employment and the community for persons of short stature; provide support and work towards the removal of disadvantages involving persons of short stature; provide opportunities for fellowship in social activities; and encourage each other, by example, to live a full and happy life. Membership is open to all persons of short stature as well as their family and friends.

This site provides information about the New South Wales branch (incorporating the Australian Capital Territory), founded in 1974. The branch regularly holds meetings at the homes of members, normally in Sydney. Various social activities are held throughout the year as well as adults and childrens Christmas parties.

The SSPA (NSW & ACT) is also involved in sports for all ages and in particular basketball, with a competition held regularly in Sydney between teams of short statured members.
